New Year’s Projects for kids to make

Keep the kids busy on New Year’s by having them make the below projects!!

Make a Paper Noisemaker

Materials:  8 1/2 x 11 paper, tape, and scissors

Directions:
What to do: Roll a sheet of office paper into a narrow tube by starting at one corner and wrapping the paper around a pencil, then slipping out the pencil after a few turns. Secure the tube with tape.
Gently pinch one end of the tube and snip it two thirds of the way across, as shown, to form a triangular flap. Fold up the flap so that it covers the end of the tube.
To play the noisemaker: Place your lips around the uncut end. Lightly press on the flap so that it almost touches the opening. Gently inhale and release your finger. The flap will vibrate, making a noise that says,
    "Happy New Year."

Noisemaker Shakers

Materials:  Ribbon spool, Pencil, Masking tape, dried peas or beans, Acrylic paint, and Colorful stickers

Directions:
For each one, first see if the holes in the sides of your ribbon spool are covered by the ribbon's labels. If so, use a pencil to poke through the label over 1 of the holes; if not, cover 1 hole with masking tape.
Next, pour a handful of dried peas or beans into the spool through the open hole, then seal the hole with tape.
Coat the shaker with acrylic paint, let it dry, then decorate it with colorful stickers.

Wishes Can Come True

Materials:  Coffee can, Paper, Magazine photos, Paint, Markers, Crayons, and    Other decorative elements of your choice

Directions:
Have your child decorate an empty coffee can with images of what he pines for. Then cut a slot in the lid that's large enough to accommodate coins and folded bills. Make the first deposit to get him/her started.
