Thanksgiving Project for kids to make

It was hard to find different projects that did not involve painting the kids hand and making a turkey out of the hand. Here are just a few and some do involve upcycling items.

Scrap Paper Turkey Box

Materials:  Empty Kleenex box, brown paper, scotch tape, googly eyes, Elmer glue, scissors

Directions:
Wrap the Kleenex box with a brown paper bag.
Make a template for the 10 feathers and shape of the turkey body.
Trace them on to different colored construction paper. Cut them out.
Glue the turkey body as shown below:

Take the “feathers” glue on the feathers overlapping as shown below:

Glue on the eyes and make a peek as done below:

Adult Supervision is needed for the hot glue gun!!
Paper tube Turkey

Materials:  Construction Paper, feathers, googly eyes, scissors, glue, hot glue

Directions:
With glue add some colorful feathers for the tail on the tube. Cut out feet from the orange construction paper and two orange feet. Cut out a beak into waffle shape and crises the center. Glue on to tube. Then glue on the eyes. With the heavier feather an adult will have to use a glue gun to add them to the tube. Finish gluing on the father as shown in the picture above.
Here is an idea to either get the child outside or use leftover leaves that were collected!

Toddler Maple Leaf Turkey

Materials:  Googly eyes, scissors, construction paper, leaves, twigs, orange tissue paper, glue

Directions:
Glue two leaves together.
Make a beak out of construction paper. Glue beak on the leaves.
Glue the eye one on each side of top part of the beak as shown.
Make a gobble and tissue paper gobble to the leaves.
Make feet out of the stems and glue for feet.

Share your ideas on this or anything here on the blog either here or e-mail me at stipple@verizon.net.  I look forward to hearing from you!
