Summer Dog Treats to make

I subscribe to Home Made Simple and they had this article for dog treats.  With me doing summer projects for dogs, I feel this would be a great addition to that blog post.

Puppy Ice Pops
Mix kibble and vegetables with chicken stock, then freeze the mixture in an ice cube tray. Pop one out when they need a cool-down treat.
Add plain frozen chicken stock cubes to their food dish during mealtime.
Make big blocks of flavored ice in a milk jug or small bucket for a large outdoor treat that will last all afternoon.

Tip: Mix a can of pumpkin—not pumpkin pie filling—and a carton plain non-fat yogurt together and freeze into ice cube trays for a different spin.

Pet-Friendly Ice Cream

Mix together 4 tablespoons of plain low-fat Greek yogurt, two ripe bananas and peanut butter. Freeze the mixture in a container with a lid and scoop it out like ice cream.

Tip: Keep baby carrots in the fridge or green beans in the freezer and give them out as needed.

Hollow Toy Filling Suggestions

Fill and freeze a hollow toy overnight to make a cool treat that lasts all day. Fill it with:
Non-fat plain yogurt
Peanut butter
Chicken broth with beef jerky
Mashed bananas
Canned pumpkin
Canned dog food
Low-fat cream cheese

Share your ideas on this or anything here on the blog either here or e-mail me at stipple@verizon.netI look forward to hearing from you!
