Lucky Penny Necklace

Hi! Crafters!

Below is a craft for St. Patrick’s Day for children to make. I copied these years ago for my students to make.

Lucky Penny Necklace

Materials: bottle cap, white and green construction papers, white glue, scissors, black marker. A penny, masking tape, green yarn Styrofoam tray or newspaper

Instructions:

Cut a circle with the white construction paper large enough to cover the cap.

Put a piece of masking tape on the cap to create a better gluing surface,

Glue the white circle on the cap.

Cut a shamrock from the green construction paper small enough to fit on the white circle.

Option: using the black marker make a happy face on the shamrock.

Glue shamrock to covered cap.

Turn the cap over.

Put a piece of masking tape over the inside of the cap.

Put another piece of tap on the penny. The tape will give the cap a better gluing surface to glue the penny.

Glue the penny inside the cap.

Let dry on the tray or newspaper.

Cut a piece of green yarn long enough to make the necklace.

Tie the yarn around the cap.

Then tie the two ends together to make the necklace.

Wear the necklace shamrock side out with the penny hidden behind.
