Manly Walker Caddy to Crochet!

Walker Caddy

I used and “I” hook and three different skeins of yarn: one mufti-color and two plain matching ones.
First a made two granny squares with the mufti-color yarn for the pockets. Weave ends.  See below:

With the first matching color, I crochet one row around each pocket and tie off. Weave ends.

Then did another row around each pocket with the other marching yarn (which also will be the main yarn color and be used to make the straps and attach the pockets to the main square and tie off.  Weave ends.

Big granny square. Make a granny square with the mufti-color yarn which is double one of the pockets; so, you have 9 approximately rows and then tie off. Weave ends.

With the first matching color crochet two rows around and tie off.  Weave ends
Then with the main color crochet around 4 rows and tie off.  Weave ends.

Take the two pockets and with tapestry needle weave them together.

Flip over the big granny square so the front is facing the table and place the pockets on lower part of the big square facing the right side to you.

On the right side starting on the lower right corner and crochet single crochet across until attached.  Then do the left side as you did on the right.
The across the bottom of the large granny square i.e.: bottom of the walker caddy.  With the bottom facing you start on the right side and single crochet until you get to the end of the one granny square tie off and weave.  Then flipping it around and starting on the left side attach again using single crochet until you again meet to the end of the second pocket.  Tie off and weave ends.

I like to weave with the tapestry needle the middle of the pocket on the back side; so, they actually are two pocket not one giant one.  If you want a giant one you will need to weave the middle top; so, the pockets do not flap open.

Making three straps:

Strap one at the right corner attach the yarn and chain 3 in the same crochet one dc and 7 more dc in each including the two spaces (total of 8 dc) turn and repeat until you have 13 rows.

Then on the 14 row Ch. 3 and do one dc, then do a dc decrease then chain one skip 4 dc then do dc decrease and end with a dc. Tie odd and weave ends.

Repeat the above strap on the left side.

Middle strip:  In find the middle of the top to make the middle strip.  You may have to do 9 dc to make it even as I had to on this one.  (Other ones I did I did not have to do 9 dc but did 8 dc)
Do 13 rows and then on the 14 Row.  Ch. 3 and do one dc then do a dc decrease then chain one skip 4 dc then do dc decrease and end with a dc. Tie odd and weave ends.

Add 3 matching buttons to the front side of the walker caddy on each strap; so, it can be attached to the walker.  You can substitute Velcro if you desire.

I still plan one making one with the flowers in the middle of the granny square; but, was making this one for Kevin’s father day present.  He had really need on for the walker and since my sewing machine is still broken and I have not had the time to look at it since I got home on Monday.

Share your ideas on this or anything here on the blog either here or e-mail me at stipple@verizon.net. I look forward to hearing from you!
