Crochet your own hat this St. Patrick’s holiday instead of
buying one.
St. Patrick's Day hat
Materials: Yarn: 4 oz Green(G) and small amount
Black(B); Tapestry Needle; Felt - Yellow 2" x 3" piece; Hot Glue, and
Hook: Size I-9
Abbreviations: ch, chain; rnd, round; dc, double
crochet; sc, single crochet(s); hdc, half double crochet; sl st(s), slip
stitch(es); lp(s), loop(s); sp(s), space(s); rem, remaining; rep, repeat; yo, yarn
over; st(s), stitch(es).
Instructions:
(Right Side) Starting at top with G, ch 1, (center ch), ch 3
(counts as dc now and throughout), work 11dc in center ch, join with sl st in
top of beg ch-3. Join Rnds 1-4 in this
manner. DO NOT TURN EACH RND.
Ch 3, 2dc in each st around, join. (24dc)
Ch 3, 2dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2dc in next st)around,
join. (36dc)
Ch 3, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, (dc in each of next 2sts,
2dc in next st)around, join. (48dc)
Working in back loops only, ch 3, dc in each st around. (48dc)
Rows 6-8:Working in both lps, dc around.
At the end of rnd 8, fasten off G, join B.
With B, rep rnd 5.
Rows 10-11:Dc around.
At the end of rnd 11, fasten off B.
With right side facing, working in front loops only, join G in
any st, ch 3, dc in each of next 2sts, 2dc in next st, (dc in each of next
3sts, 2dc in next st)around, join.
(60dc)
Working in both lps, ch 3, dc in each of next 3sts, 2dc in
next st, (dc in each of next 4sts, 2dc in next st)around, join. (72dc)
Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in ends.
Cut Buckle from Felt and glue to front of cover.
