With summer coming next month (and almost here with
our temps pushing past 90 every day), I thought it is time to start talking
about pool time. I will start with what you can do sewing wise before covering crocheting
some items.
Along with sunscreen for kids, they need a towel and a
swimsuit. Getting the items to the pool can be difficult so why not check out
the Hooded Beach
Towel Backpacks as they are great for
kids. If you don’t already have a swimsuit for your child, take a look at: A Big Splash
Swimsuit; Pennie's
Swimsuit; and Summer Two
Piece Swimsuit.
Everyone needs a hat to keep the sun from burning
your scalp or just keeping the sun out of eyes. This might be just what you are looking for at Sun Hat.
I always like
to wear something over my swimsuit, especially if I have to stop somewhere
along the way to the pool. Here are a few links
that may also interest you: Frumpy Dress to Swimsuit Coverup; Shirred Beach Towel Dress; and Beach Towel Dress
One always
needs a great bag to carry everything in to the pool. A good choice is this Swimming Bag Tutorial.
Last but not least, for
those who have teen age girls, you might consider making this Embellished Hooded Towel Tutorial.
Now, what to do a hook and some yarn. Believe it or not, you
can make great swim suit or halter top with yarn. When I was young and first
starting to crochet I made both of those items.
Here is a link to one of the ones I found on-line: http://www.ehow.com/how_4458095_crochet-swimsuit.html this is
a two piece suit. On that same page
there is a link to a swimsuit coverup.
If you are really daring, here is a Bikini pattern http://www.ehow.com/how_10073723_crochet-bikini-women.html
While doing my research for this blog I found the website Crochet
Pattern Central was the best with great links
to make hats, beach bags and mats, beach wraps, and more. Take a look at
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/beach.php.
If you want a crocheted beach bag take a look at: http://crochet.about.com/od/bagspursesandhandbags/a/market-bag.htm?nl=1 or http://www.allfreecrochet.com/SummerBags#. All Free Crochet is one of my favorite go to
sites for countless crocheting items to make.
I would love to know if you were daring to wear a crochet bikini or make one.
As always, share your ideas on this or anything here on the
blog either here or e-mail me at stipple@verizon.net I look forward to hearing from you!
